Happy 21st birthday Milton Keynes Youth Choir - celebrations held on 7 July 2018
We called all past members to join us with our celebrations and eight former members along with our first conductor were able to be at our concert at 1pm on 7th July and afterwards at our party. MK Youth Choir was founded, by MK Chorale in 1997, with a grant from the National Lottery, and most of the initial members were children or grandchildren of Chorale members. During the 21 years hundreds of children have sung with the choir and many have gone on to enjoy singing professionally or in significant amateur roles. Our Musical Director, since 2010, is Craig McLeish who, as well as being Musical Director for Young Voices, has been heavily involved in musical contributions to the MK50 celebrations. We put together a varied programme reflecting the wide variety of music (jazz, world, folk, pop and classical) the choir sings as well as a new piece composed for the occasion by Craig.
